Fishing
Looking for an elusive diamond
In the deep murk of the stream
Ignites inquiry
Of life gone by
Waiting to be found
Wrapped in eons of mud
Species come to life
Awakened by a fly
Landing on their lip
All is wonder as the time goes by
To today when life is revealed
Longer lasting than this
Cannot be
Except for tall stories
Whilst fishing the Murray
Flagging
As time goes by, swiftly
Life seems to flag
In the face
Of creaking bones and hips
*
One may slip
On uneven flagging
Tearing muscle from bone
Leaving life a little loser
Until the grand day
That comes when time is ripe
To grab you by the throat
Stark locks, red tresses
Enveloping mist
Time swapping form
Awakening spirit
*
Blonde locks, long
Engulfing
Time swapping form
Uniting spirit
*
Grey locks, baldness presses
Enlightening awareness
Time swapping form
Releasing spirit
*
Goodbye
Mirrors
Our souls are funny places
All sorts of crooks and crannies
To hide
Long forgotten trespasses
*
Looking through a mirror
Is like looking at yourself
In reverse
Long forgotten locks
*
Reflecting within a mirror
Are dreams lone gone
Lost
Long forgotten
*
Is our soul the mirror on the wall
Waiting patiently for silver to fade
As we fade, physically and emotionally
Before dropping and breaking
New places
Where are they?
Those places never seen
How do you find them?
If they do not exist
*
Does being exist?
Outside the eye of the beholder
Or is it a place not found?
Are they yours?
When you find them
*
Is awe and wondermost
Restricted to a foundling?
Sleeping silently
Until set free
New places
Unfound
Are old
Forever

Worldwide there are billions
Half employed people
Never a smile on their face
Bitter, twisted to be ________

Simple things
Babies cribs
Toddlers lament
Drive them to distraction

Brother and sister bickering
Husband and wife arguing
Simple things
Set them off

Woebehold, if
You are in their way
When they snap

Re-united
Straining, at her moorings
In the dark of night
She bested the breeze
Awaiting down and abatement
When she would be set free
*
Plying the smooth watwe
Glistening on the short ripples
She strained at the throttle
To make head speed
Ever faster, faster
*
Toward dusk the demon returned
Buffeting the proud hull
Swinging perilously on the helm
This side, that side
She lost her way
*
Suddenly, one almighty gust
Shook all to their foundations
Sitting on her hull
She felt secure
Until she flipped
*
Scampering passengers cried in despair
As her captain tossed lifejackets over
Allowing the final passengers ______
*
She sank
Smooth weather
Welcomed the contestants
‘Paddles aboard, the race began
Carried on the flood current
They soon reached the Murray
Suddenly, forwarding ceased
Trailing ropes snapped taut
Grabbed by the snag
Slowly, headway returned
Besting the snag
*
Majestically, the behemoth
Rose from the depths
In 1973 a houseboat plying the Darling River was flipped over by strong winds and floundered. Her captain and fifteen passengers were able to scramble rom the sinking boat and reach the shore. Twenty years later, participants in a marathon kayak race on the Murray River were re-united with the denizen.
This is particularly odd s there is a weir where the Darling joins the Murray.
